He enjoyed viewing the ripples and reflections it had to freely offer. As he took a few gulps from his stainless steel canister, he questioned why he wasn't cupping his hands under the fresh water flowing down stream. He thought - it's no wonder that as humans we require an essential amount of this beautiful element daily. The "W" he made with his three fingers while using his basic sign language techniques made it easy for most of his fellow student hikers to follow and mimic. Although the river that appeared in front of them, may have seemed very basic, boring and dull to many, it was a powerful tool in his daily life. The students continued to sign just how much of a very important component it was in their lives as well. By choosing to never overlook the simplest things life has to offer, he appeared to be one of the greatest teachers to those boys that day and every day thereafter.

She couldn't get that spectacular moment of time shared out of her head. The wisdom and knowledge she received just by briefly communicating with such an intellectually stimulating human being was phenomenal. She only wished the span of time spent together was greater in length. Perhaps next time. Would there be a next time? Once again she realized that some days were just meant to be more special than others. This ninth day of May was certainly one of those days. She continued on, happily skipping down the sparkling silver ramp that lay in front of her. She exhibited such a free-spirited grace that individuals at the bottom waiting to approach the top, smiled up at her with a curiosity only a certain few would be so privileged to ever find out about.

One Little House

She interpreted it as her life size doll house. Viewing this pale yellow color with stark white trim made her big blue eyes sparkle. She was mesmerized by the charcoal black front door and curiously imagined what was behind it. Traversing slowly up the brick walkway, she couldn't help but notice how well manicured the surrounding shrubbery and plants were. She remembered the days her Mama used to place her snuggly on her hip while watering the plants and vegetables in their garden. The large, red tomatoes and rows of overflowing sugar snap peas they harvested appeared as clear in her mind as this unique structure in front of her this day. Mama and her used to pick the sugar snap peas off the vines, one by one while singing "This Land Is Your Land". Humming the tune softly, as if she had never stopped, Isabella looked up at the pale structure just as she heard the creek from the front door. Someone actually resided there! Excitedly, she hoped to possibly engage in a small conversation about the property, if the person so desired. Eagerly, with her blue eyes at their widest, she sat on pins and needles anticipating the history of her extra special little doll house.

He knew he should take that next step and move forward, which of course she had encouraged him to do for many moons. As he embarked upon the entrance to this beautiful stone church, his uncertainty seemed to disappear and everything fell directly into place. As he cherished all of the glorious elements inside this magnificient structure, he was simultaneously pulled in the direction of the wide open wooden door, at the rear of the church, which lead out towards the ocean. The answer was satisfyingly simple. When one door closes, another door most certainly opens.
