The hazelnut fig spread buttered ever so smoothly onto the rich cranberry walnut loaf. The hard, thin Italian salami longed to be paired with the strong, white cheddar slices. The whipped cream cheese whispered softly to him. He listened and applied an even angelic square chunk on top of each creation. His taste buds curtseyed, as the sounds of Coltrane's saxophone sunk deeper into his bones. The dining room was revived that afternoon.

Each one served a purpose. They had been pre-arranged in that order for multiple reasons. The perfect amount of space was left between each one. The color and shape of each was critically chosen. The distant sound of the crashing waves competed with the peaceful pattern. The nearby stranger started his engine and disrupted the entire moment.

It sat at the head of the street, with it's touch of red, attractive for all to see. Created brick by brick, it stood solid. Whether delivered by waiter, waitress, hostess or bartender, the food was to salivate over. The first crayon line drawn on the brown craft paper, still clearly etched in his head as if it were yesterday. Today, the heart is larger and the new addition is realistically celebrated. Just as his mother was so well behaved and quite shy then, he exampled the same. The hostess winked and handed them the brown paper rolled up tight on their way out. Couples nearby stared as their sandwiches sizzled. They would always retrieve back there. Next time as a trio.

Two chairs joined one another upon the porch, both speaking in a language only they knew. They concluded that since they were constructed of the same material and resembled one another, they must be related. Excitedly they felt an instant desire to expand their family and utilized their four legs to gather another member to compliment them. Of course they were aware that this new sibling was not made of the same material and did not look anything like either of them. Nonetheless, the three united peacefully. The trio sat patiently, eager to provide kind, hungry souls with an intimate place to share their next meal.

It was her turn. She always dreamt of running up and down the lanes, dodging the heavy balls as they protruded down the lane. Her score card was empty but her mind and body were full of never-ending energy. She completed thirty laps in a matter of minutes. Her tongue lay low, dripping soft saliva. Her tail curled back, as she watched the man in stripes in the nearby lane, stretching for his next ball. She anxiously awaited for her owner to release one of his balls. As he did, she sped off with such a large, tremendous jump, managing to capture a nearby chipmunk. She wasn't made for bowling. Maybe next time.
